Wasn't sure where else put this. Its come up at our shop about what should or shouldn't be used on one way bearings. I personally clean with bit denatured alcohol on q tip and very small amount very light oil after. We have one tech thats using grease on them, never heard of that seems like not good idea but maybe just old need learn new ways ?
I always clean with alcohol and scuff up the shaft where the bearing makes contact. Over time it's gets polished to a very smooth surface and slippage can occur.

If it's low volume on machine you can usually clean them if it's got a lot of volume over 500k replace them and maybe the shaft.
I always put a blue rag through the middle, pour some isopropyl alcohol on the rag and rotate the bearing back and forth until it's clean. Sometimes I will put a tiny bit of light oil on them, but it usually depends on my mood. I haven't actually seen any benefits one way or the other. Also I will scratch the shaft where the bearing runs. Grease seems like a very bad idea to me.
I usually used either degreaser spray or contact cleaner. For lubrication a very small amount of silicon oil or light machine oil such as Singer sewing machine oil. Too little oil and the rollers may not move freely in the bearing to clamp on the shaft. Too much oil and they may slip on the shaft. Too heavy an oil or grease can become more like glue than lube. Always be prepared to replace.
I clean them blowing out with air then pulling the corner of a light rag through it and then soak the rag with Isopropanol, turning the one-way back and forth. If they are over 300K I replace them. I always scuff the shaft with ScothBrite until the shiny trace on the shaft becomes dull again. Very, very little light sewing machine oil on the ones with a metal core (if at all.....) and definitely NO oil on the ones with a plastic core.
