Yes it appears that 3D printers are the way of the future for many industries and medicial institutions.
I have seen documentories on large scale 3D printer being used to manufacture abstract concrete products.
I've seen 3D printer used to print bronze statues. They print a figure using sand or iron powder and then infuse it with nickle. The nickle object is then placed in a furnace with bronze filings and melted into the printed statue to crete a bronze figure of any object.
A fellow technician I spoke with informed me of a process of printing a human heart. They use a process of stem cells to build a new heart. If I'm to believe the rest of the story they even got the heart to start beating...
They are already rebuilding broken bones in the human body using a 3D printer process. They print using calcium phosphate which is simliar to human bone. They graph the new bone into the patient and the human body then replaces the 3D printed bone with natural bone.
I believe the future is exciting for all new copier technicians...
