Switching Embedded @Remote to an RCGateA Appliance

I am not finding much on this situation and hope someone here can offer suggestions.

The scenario is this:

Client has an RCGateA appliance on site managing the current fleet. The sales associate fails to note the presence of the appliance and the warehouse enables Embedded @Remote during set-up on some devices that are delivered to refresh the fleet. We discover the issue and we clear the @Remote installation. The devices are removed from Centre Server and SP5-816-209, SP5-870-3, SP5-870-1 are performed followed up with a reboot of the devices.

The devices are definately off the Centre Server and as near as we can tell the settings in the machine are fully reset. The appliance simply does not find the devices that were previously using Embedded @Remote.

Any suggestions on how to get these devices discovered and registered would be welcome. Did I simply miss something?

To my knowledge, RCGate does not automatically finds new equipment on the network. You have to connect a computer to the administration port on the RCGate and run the configuration utility. See the documentation for RCGate.

Er, yes an automatic network search and device discovery is configurable. In my neck of the woods this is the norm. You can even set up automatic registration so newly discovered go straight into managed mode.

I am trained on the @Remote solution and have access to all the required bulletins, manuals, centre server, etc. There has been a 'structure' change, so I now hove more responsibility as it pertains to @Remote issues than I had previously, but do not have experience with every eventuality. I even have an RCGateA appliance to perform activities like an ID2 rewrite, so it is even possible for me to verify available settings if need be.

Double check network settings on the device.

Check SNMP settings compared to a working device.

I will be on-site tomorrow and will see about adding the problem devices manually. It is the automatic discovery not picking these up that has the client in a flap.

I think this is the correct procedure. After this you need to perform a connection test in order for the Center Server to send the comunication to the device.

Note: Make sure your MFP is not in the same range of the Maintenence Port.

Finally got on-site and have it resolved. Even though I had asked the admin about SNMP settings on the RCGate, and was told they did not change anything like that, it turned out to be the SNMP community name on ate RCGate. It was something other than the default 'public'.
