    Mp161 continued

    I went back out to the copier to replace the PCU for offsetting problem I initially thought was fuser related. Once installed an SC322 came up. I put old PCU back in copier & the code remained. I cleaned the BICU & the code remained. I then put the toner cartridge back in and code went away. I removed cartridge and the code was still gone. I installed new PCU code still gone and offsetting problem the Copier had is gone. Should I not look a "gift horse in the mouth" or should I be concerned about the SC322??? Replace the BICU??? Copier is working at this time.

    that is a issue we have all faced from time to time... it's working do I want to screw with it more? Will is come back?

    all depends on how upset has the customer been during this ordeal. Did you make it known to them about the issue and " Please keep an eye on it.. but I have not gotten it to replicate the problem."

    The code means No Toner Cartridge installed. This model has a lever at the back of the toner cartridge tray that deactivates the laser when there is no toner cartridge in the machine.

    Not necessarily. The Toner BOTTLE sits on the Hopper (Supply) unit. I've seen machines with no bottle, but the hopper is installed, that would run, but if the HOPPER isn't installed, I've gotten the 322 code as well.

    ...but yeah, if both are installed, I'd lean toward laser unit.

    I believe that with this model the shutter is actuated by the bottle. In order to be positioned properly to actuate the shutter, the bottle need to be in the toner tray.

    seems u have never seen the Mp161 service manual
    Sc 322

    Causes:
    Toner bottle not installed
    Loose connection between the LD unit and the BICU
    Defective cable between the BICU and LD unit
    LD unit out of position
    Defective LD unit
    Defective BICU
