    MPC4504ex Scanner App

    Hi Folks,

Just wanna share something about my experience yesterday.

I had a remote support call for configuring MPC4504ex to scan to email using office365. The customer had an existing MPC4504ex so i copied the address book and restored on the new one. When testing the scanner, it works fine, sending it to destinations on the address book. Then there's this 2 particular emails, when the user scans, it says transmission failed (the client is using the new scanner app of SOP). While watching it on the screen monitoring, I asked the user to scan using the classing scanner on the same destination, it worked! Then i browsed the email configuration and compared the settings, I noticed the other MPC4504 has entries on the signature field. I copied it, gave it a shot, scan from the app, IT WORKED!

    What sorcery is this?

I configured using the following entries:
    smtp.office365.com
    PORT:587
    SSLn
    email:scanner@company.com
    username:scanner@company.com
    auto specify sender name: On
    admin email address: scanner@company.com

note: scanner@company.com is a valid email address..
    Aye! Cut the crap

    Re: MPC4504ex Scanner App

Most likely the spam blockers at the destination email server. There are some mail clients that are set up so if they see the word "Scanned" or "Attachment" in the subject line, it'll either block the email IMMEDIATELY, or just direct it straight to the junk mail folder.

Some clients change the email subject to something other than the default to get around it.

Something I've noticed on the 04 series machines with SOP. If you configure your default settings on the NEW Scan App...those settings do NOT transfer to the "Classic" app. They each need to be configured separately. Same thing with the "Copy" app.

    ...Sorcery Indeed!!

That's the reason why we configure the machines using classic app and remove the other icons. But the tech didn't do it on this client.

Lately we've started using the SOP designer tool from Ricoh.
That way all our techs can load the same SOP design config file (including wallpaper and icons, widgets and apps) at run up.
It's worth having a play with.

It's been available for a couple years. Version 1.42 for current SOP versions released last month. For SOP-G1 use v 1.32.
