Horizontal lines on doc feeder only

Ricoh MP C5502 with three horizontal lines in the middle of the page. This only appears when using the document feeder -- platen works fine. Appears on both scan and copy. Optics have a small amount of surface dust, but no obvious damage.

    Is the slit glass dirty?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Its the slit glass, if it were the drum or hot roller the lines would be edge to edge.

Issue occurs only using ADF -- both scans and copies. No issue on printing or scans/copies using the platen glass.

Do you know what a slit glass is?

Of course the slit glass isn't dirty. You think I'd post it here if it was?

I know nothing about you. You are the one standing there. It's a good time to make some observations.

Well, I'm not completely brain dead... clearly I wouldn't waste everyone's time and energy if the problem were so obvious.

All digs aside, it is still the slit glass or the optics on an edge that is only in the path when scanner is moved back behind normal scan start position. Only other choice is if you have single pass doc feed and the CIS has the marks and what you are showing us is a two sided copy.

Re: Horizontal lines on doc feeder only

I personally have ran into this issue on multiple occasions, where the offending marks on the scanner glass were not visible to the eye. Removal of the scan glass and a good cleaning with ink remover always took care of it. If that is a second side duplexed original, the cis would be the culprit (previously mentioned in this thread).
