    MPC3003 Light copies

    Hey all...
I have an MPC3003 in the field that needed a black pcdu replaced.
Before I did the service I noticed that the copies from the ADF and Platten were really pale.
Swapped in the new pcdu and ptr assy.
Cleaned the laser slit glass, optics etc.
    Copies were STILL shocking.
Returned to the machine the next week(it's 2 hours from the workshop) and fitted a new lamp and SIO board...
A very slight improvement but still not as good as the print engine.
    Any ideas?

VT and bias settings were within spec.
I HAVE had the odd pcu where I've forgotten to put the bias plate back on before fitting it back into the machine and it's kinda a similar look...but that tends to affect EVERYTHING....printing and copying both.
    Also...
I scanned from the glass into the doc server and it looked like shit as well...that's why I'm thinking it's more scanner related than bias.

Clean the optics including all mirrors then run Auto Color Calibration in User Tools - Maintenance. Do all copier and printer. At one time Ricoh recommended doing ACC after all firmware updates.

Have you remembered to replace the rear plate of the PCDU? It has a grounding plate, which when not present causes faint copies.

ACC should correct that. In running ACC, the machine first prints a stored color grey scale pattern. It then scans that printed pattern, compares the scanned pattern to the stored pattern and adjusts scanning levels to compensate.
