    mpc3004 document server document passwords

Customer has a stored document in document server, it is password protected. The password was lost by the customer, and they are unable to retrieve the document from the document server. We basically told them they are SOL, but would research for a back door. Anyone know of any? Admin and Supervisor login/passwords will not do it, already tried. I think the are SOL, but I'll toss it out anyway. I'll even entertain smartass comments to pass onto customer about losing it. There is a reason for password protection, if you can cheat your way in, what good are passwords?

Anyway, if you do know of a way, I'd be surprised and curious. If not post a comment to make me laugh more about this stupid service call. If you RTFM it says right there that this is not meant for permanent backup, only convenience. Stupid customers.

I have always told customers to always keep a hard copy or at least a computer file of everything on the Document Server. Otherwise when the HDD crashes they lose everything.

As for lost passwords for Doc Server files, those are usually set by the person who scanned them in, frequently the same password he/she uses elsewhere. Unless HDD encryption is installed, you might be able to search the HDD on a computer. There are companies that will do that for you nut they are costly.

Don't know if scanrouter can do it but as we all know, scanrouter does not exist anymore. Even the OS and machine it supports.

Cant be done - would be a breach of security.
    You can delete though!

I just logged into a mpc2550s web page and was able to choose the option to change the password, have you tried this?

Nope, I am assuming to change the password, you need to know the former password though. Already informed customer they are SOL. So I guess we can close this thread unless someone has idea should it happen again. I will try your idea on the office copier. Will post back if it works. Thanks for your suggestion.

No you dont need the password, logging in as admin you have the rights. I didnt test it as the documents on my local device are not mine.

This is also the same for when someone forget their pin after sending a stored print job.
