Ricoh SP C410DN paper tray Seal, Side Fence, Right Front G102-2861

On a Ricoh SP C410DN main paper tray, there is a little black velcro-like strip on the side of the paper fence called "Seal, Side Fence, Right Front" part number G102-2861. Mine has split at the top, come loose along the side of the fence, and is getting black smudges on the side of the paper that touches it. Can I just peel it off and toss it? Or can someone get one for me to purchase? Hopefully not too expensive! I can't even figure out where to buy Ricoh parts (Ricoh web site not consumer friendly). Thanks, John

Rip it off then find out what is causing mark because it will be something else.

Worst that can happen is that you might get an occasional double sheet fed.

Thanks for the comments on this. I will remove it and see what happens, both regarding proper paper feeding and my occasional black mark on the edge. Could either of you tell me how much these cost and where to get one, please, so I can replace it? Thanks, John

I have a c410DN right here and I checked it out. Honestly, I can't see how that would cause a black mark on the paper. The printer I have is missing one completely, and it feeds fine.

The black strip is coming unglued and folding down inside the paper fence, with the sticky side touching the paper unless I carefully hold the strip up against the fence when I put paper into the tray. That is why I thought it might be marking the edge of the paper sometimes. Thanks, John
