    Savin MP 305SPF

Hey all, I have a problem with a Savin MP 305SPF jamming all the time first thing in the morning or when copier sits idle for long periods of time. The jamming is at the exit unit J020. So far I have replaced the whole fixing/exit unit, replaced the paper feed clutch and feed shaft and the paper tray feed roller and friction pad. I also updated the firmware too. So far no luck. Has anyone else seen this problem? Thanks

Sounds like you may have a problem with moisture condensation during the night. Excess moisture will cause the paper to curl as it comes out of the fusing unit.

Yea that is definitely a possibility. Its located at a school library so its a relatively clean environment so its not an environmental issue. We also have this particular machine at other places doing the same thing. Are these particular copiers not so forgiving for some moisture on paper? There are other copiers at this school that arent having issues.

Try this, I've had more J020 than I can count. Just replace the cheap sensor on the fuser and your good to go trust me. If that works open up the sensor and see the brown tar like substance all over the inside of the sensor. We now replace sensor D205-4408 around $14 at every fuser rebuild. Have a good day.

All the J020 I've seen were first thing in the morning then after lunch and any big breaks in use in between. I also recommend cleaning the hot roller strippers due to high pitch noise they make when dirty. Step 1 on my sheet is turning off Java, which makes updating firmware on that model quicker. Turn back on after if needed. 90% of our machines in the field have Java turned off.

Check the solenoid of the gate pawl at exit ass'y. Sometimes it sticks. Also, first thing in the morning, try to move repeatedly the gate pawl before copying. It worth a try...
