I will do that. Thanks. I like to learn, but in this case, may be out of my time and knowledge base to undertake.

Just FYI...Scanning to PC via USB cable was never an option on that model.
    Network scanning ONLY.

    block controller or partially faulty.
This is not correct. The opposite is actually true
The HDD is an option this model and is NOT required for printing or scanning to email or folder. It IS necessary for scanning to SD card / memory device.
I've removed several from re-sale boxes where the user does not want/ need the added functionality, and the spare HDD's come in handy.
It sounds to me like the poster was primarily scanning to the USB device and that the HDD has failed, although I would typically expect there to be at least an error message flashing in the corner of the screen to indicate a problem

No error message. Prior to issue, only scan option via USB.

If I buy an HDD, say from you, would that fix the problem?

Nothing special about the hard drive. Pop one in and see.
    2.5" sata.
The HDD is minimum 128Gb, but you can install a larger one without issue

If the machine never did have a HDD installed, won’t the mounting bracket/wiring harness be required?

BTW...Document Server requires the HDD, too.

He was only using it for scanning to usb/ SD card so it has to have an HDD for that function

Re: RICOH MP301 SPF - USB Scanning (no longer appears on scan options)

I am going to try one more time - with picture. I have tried all I could think of, and suggested, including adding new HDD. Here is a pic of the problem. When I go to Scanner - Email and Folder areas pop up, but when I go to Folder - the bottom "select Destination..." "Manual Entry" "Manual Entries History" and the right side of that "Comm. Status/Print", "1 Sided", and the most important for this of all , "BLACK & WHITE PDF" button are all gone. I think I accidentally deleted these ... ???
