Replacement: Cleaning unit for PCU MPC8002

    Hi all!
I have a MPC8002 that started giving the message Replacement Required: Cleaning Unit for PCU for the Black. I verified the lubricant and there still lubricant. I even switched the cyan and the black cleaning units, did the PM reset. But I'm still getting the message.

Check SP 3810-021 Lubricant End Detection Detection Flag:K. If it is not 0 you have a problem.
    0: Normal,
1: Mechanical Detection, the lube bar sensors,
    2: Near End counter Detection,
    3: End counter Detection

If there is less than about 10mm at either it may be detected by the sensors. Less than 5mm it will be detected.

What is the PM count on the unit, if near life replace unit or PM parts and carry out the procedure stated in the manual. Don’t clear counts without replacing parts or it will bite you on the ass when the drum needs replacing.

Counter was in 20K, I have the spare parts and will do it tomorrow. I measured the sensors and I had the yellow one activated. However It still have a little lubricant. But the strange thing was that the error reported by the machine was in the black but when I measured which sensor was shorted was the yellow one.

Hi...A wide variety of ricoh photoconductor unit options are available to you, such as full. You can also choose from yes ricoh photoconductor unit, as well as from lexmark, brother, and epson ricoh photoconductor unit, and whether ricoh photoconductor unit is compatible, or original.

    +1

why do some techs think that resetting counts and NOT doing the proper repair is ok?

engineers put the PM in there for a reason ( not always just to capture revenue ) and to ignore the replacement is going to cause future issues and tend to PISS customers off always having you there!

makes no sense to me, but I always did the FULL PM when it called for it and NO parts in the kit were "not needed" like some techs say.

i put that on them just being lazy and not wanting to "Take the time to do it RIGHT!"

    my 2 cents.

a lube bar can't be run long after the message damage to the drum will result.

don't half ass a repair. not good for customer nor for your reputation.

bite the bullet and "Do IT right"!
