OK, so I attempted to do a firmware update on a MP 201, got a SC 670. I know what happened as per previous threads. I have the copier up and running with another BICU and presently have another controller box installed. My question is, is the old controller box shot with the wrong engine firmware? Should/can I put original NVRAM into the controller that is now in to get my s/n etc. back? Hope I'm making sense. I just don't want to destroy another BICU. Thank you in advance.
why the firmware update? 1) it may happen that the firmware is not loaded correctly or for the damaged file or for the incorrect or damaged sd card. 2) sc670 BICU defective but it can also be there
Defective controller board. The incorrect firmware update sends the NVRAM to a block and must be replaced or reset. Probably the BICU is not damaged but inhibited by the NVRAM.

Ricoh switched to a different supplier and with this one of the main chips on the board also changed (therefore the SC670 if the wrong firmware is loaded on the wrong board).
To my knowledge there is no recovery for this other than to replace the board in question.

That is exactly what happened. So anyone who is doing fwu. make sure you are using the correct engine firmware.
Where did you get the original firmware from?

On this old discontinued mono model there is no benefit in updating the firmware.
