This issue can be caused by a number of things.

Update the driver & firmware for a start.

If printing over wifi this will cause a delay compared to a wired network.

Depending on your media type thicker paper will delay the first copy or print.

if it's taking a long time to copy and print , I would probably look at the HDDs.

For printing check that the driver is not using the WSD port as I have seen machine take as much as 30 minutes a page to process a single page. Also if Windows had been allowed to automatically install the driver it check that it is not Microsoft's Ricoh Class Driver.

Check SP 3403-001 through 010, SC History. You might be getting type C SC codes that are only logged and not displayed.

Lastly try clearing copier application SP 5801-006 and Printer application SP 5801-008. Do not do SP 5801-001 All Clear or SP 5801-002 Engine unless you have either the birth certificate or recent Non Default print out. If certain parts have been replaced that have SP setting stickers, such as laser diode units and ID sensors, the birth certificate will no longer be correct for those items.

Well, i have the same problem with an MP C4502, it takes too long to copy-let's start from this function at first.
So far, thinking that it may be a fuser control problem, i have cleaned press. roll thermistors, triple heater continuity has been checked,
bearings and pressure roll have been replaced, they get worn very soon.
Firmware is up to date, SP adjustments are at default.
    i didn't perform any reset routine-as Slimslob suggests-yet.
I think it's an interesting idea.
Totoro maybe points a solution, also!!

Here's another thought. If Toner End Detection SP 3045 is set to 1 (Off) it will cause the machine to run Process Control every time it comes out of energy saver.

My first thought when a Ricoh machine is too slow doing most of everything (not just printing), specially when a SOP panel is in use, is the HDDs.

But it's nice to know this one, never had this happen to me, but I'll keep an eye on it if I ever come by it again. Thanks.
