    Yep...we used to fit a surge protector with each new install but the penny counters upstairs decided that it was an expense they could do without.
    Also...the depot that we installed the machine into is the Electrical workshop for the State rail infrastructure...so you'd think that they might have had a surge protector or 3 laying around

    My former employer used to think that until a customer had a power surge take out a $700 board.
