I take it that you are not a trained and authorized Ricoh customer engineer. If you were you would know how to get into the Service Program.
What makes you think that the HDD needs to be formatted?
Do not enter with 143 or 806182, I am a technician
Activate the request to format, do it but when switching on again, it does the same
Without the HDD, I can enter it in a technical way, but when connected it asks me to format it
replace the hdd but don't let me into your technical mode and keep requesting replacement
Unless the HDD is defective or not low level formatted properly, the 2555 should automatically format it when power is turned on. It may prompt you for permission to do so. If it does not do so, take the HDD out and format it on a PC.
You may need an external drive tray to do so. Other than that, contact your regional support person and request an assistance visit.

So in the interests of trying to determine what the machine is doing, I assume it is doing a service code that is related to the hard drive. Other people look at this forum for help with their issues.
Can you at least tell us what the service code is that you keep getting? It might be related to something else as well.
