From previous experiences with old models the units have obviously different codes and reversing them in the equipment will give you error codes or simply indicate to insert the unit correctly, but replacing the TD sensor with the right one should go.

RICO SUAVE will often use a different td sensor or maybe it is just the wiring sequence"still have not had need nor time to explore the answer.
I would compare rear of each drum b4 trying and if unit does not allow it to pop in all the way
I would NOT force it.....I thought the mpc 04 drums were priced "reasonably"??
I have done this many times and it does work but there is a fair bit of work involved
You use these kits from the MPC3004 up to the MP6004 with no issue
but.....
On the 3004 to the 4504 you must do the following,
Split the PCU from the dev unit
Remove the TD sensor and harness from the Kit PCDU and replace it from a original dev unit (harness and TD sensor). Please make sure you remove both the harness and TD sensor, if you just remove the TD sensor and plug it in the harness from the Kit PCDU IT WILL NOT WORK...... it must be done together
You must then remove the lubricant bar from the PCU and set the tension back on it with the springs as the Kit PCDU's are not tensioned. If you do not do this expect a life of 10% before it fails. In saying this if you fit these PCDU's in the 5504 and 6004 you only need to do the TD sensor and harness.
