Re: c3002 "add toner" new developerbox

Hopefully you've already got this working, but one other thought. Didn't the Cxx02 series have an RM version that used a different toner? I know the c5502 did.

I remember techs having this issue because they would do the firmware update while on the call. The RM version had it's own ENGINE firmware that was different from the standard c5502. My memory isn't quite what it used to be & it might not have been the ENGINE firmware, but there was a bulletin regarding the firmware needed to correct the ADD TONER issue.

    Greetings,

i think he is saying if it cycles and runs "adding toner" but does not clear it is a pump.

If the machine does not see a cartridge installed it is a toner chip or rfid board..
basically one is mechanical and the other electrical..

Re: c3002 "add toner" new developerbox

"Add toner, black" problem went away (for about 100 printouts from test chart Ricoh) after replacing (and initializing) the black development unit.
    But now it's back.
I have cleaned (again) the ID sensors, swapped ITB unit and PCU. No good.
Yes, it is a original Ricoh toner bottle, more than half filled.
Printout quality was perfect (really black) before it went into "add toner" message.
There was no "nearly end" message (i guess).
It is the first time we have this problem on this type, and i guess it is the toner end sensor.
    ???

Did you swap or replace the pump like we advised?

All you did initialising the dev unit was set the toner level in the unit temporarily not actually resolve the real issue.

A copier will call for toner BEFORE the the print quality Is affected.

If you haven't replaced the toner pump yet, then that is the 1st thing I would do. It is a very common failure point on that entire series going back to the c4500.

I noticed that the rubber pipe was not fully fit over the pipe(?) of the toner supply pump.
Some toner dropped in the machine, some in the pump...
Thank you al for you helping me out here!

100 printouts could be the number of printouts from when the machine detects it needs to add toner and starts cycling the toner pump, toner pre-end, to displaying toner out. For some models it is 50, for others it is 100. At toner pre-end it should have displayed toner low but if no one is at the machine to see the display.

So the machine is now fixed? And the problem was the toner supply tube not secured to the pump? And it took 3 pages of advice and 2 weeks to figure that one out? Attention to detail, Dude.

Lol mika as perplexed you are imagine how he was
But agree it's good to listen carefully to the majority especially when this comes from experinced techs.
