    SC285 Pro C5100

    Hi,

I've got a Pro C5100 coming up with SC285 and SC496 (both Music errors). These errors occur when you run SP-3011-4 (Full music) however if you run force pro con , 3011-01, it passes with all 1's when you check 3012.

The ID sensors array has been replaced, the ITB is in good condition as are the PCU's. The CQ is good and colour registration is in. The Encoder sensor on the ITB ass'y has been cleaned and the PTR has been replaced too.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Goose's Guide has a hit for SC285/SC496. Says that the Tech. replaced entire ITB unit to resolve.
Another hit says ID/MUSIC sensor replaced, but you've done that.

Has the problem been solved? If so, how?

    Thank you.

How many prints has the transfer belt and bias rollers got on them? They usually need replacing around 1.5m.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Had that same problem and it went away on its own. Details here.

Not sure if this will help you but i once had a C5100 machine that would not run the color registration in user tools it would fail. I had to go in service mode and zero out the laser mirror adjustment motors and then run the MUSIC process. the motors were at the maximum of the adjustment range and would not allow the registration process to complete.

There's a mention of that in the service manual, so I tried it too - didn't make a difference. But yes, I believe that if the values are too far away from standard will stop the engine from performing the adjustments. That's also one of the reasons why, when I find an adjustment trouble that I can't solve by traditional means, I backup the NVRAM and then try again after resetting the engine data (didn't work in this case).

If you back up nvram and then clear nvram the details what you load back on from the backup would have the same information on it
