I never really used it, but it did save the day once. I had an account about 10 or 12 years ago that printed tons of pages a day from Word Perfect, and they had mixed orientations and duplex settings within the same job. Ugly, I know.

I don’t remember the model but it was a Segment 6 Ricoh, no Fiery.

No other driver worked like they wanted it to. Out of desperation I tried the mini PCL5 driver and life was good. It basically let the application do the driving.

I gained a new respect for it after that little adventure.
I not sure if it was the PCL Mini driver but many years ago we had a customer who when they remodeled their office pulled an old Gestetner 3220, AFICIO 200, out of their warehouse and wanted to put it in the boss's office for him to use as a printer. There was no XP driver for the 3220. So I downloaded the Mini driver and it worked.

From what my fuzzy old brain remembers, you got both PCL5 and PCL6 drivers when you downloaded the Mini driver package.

It was really mis-named. It had pretty much if not all the features that the standard PCL drivers did.

If it happens from all computers, it could also be a network problem - try lowering the machine network speed to 10mbps half-duplex. If it improves the print time (even though you lowered the speed) then you got a cable/connection problem

Yes may be. Ping the machine -t for a 5 minutes. If there are frequent big delays their network is culprit.
