Exclamation Document Feeder not sensing document in feeder

I have a nice MP C5000 printer that I love using. However it has never been able to sense if documents are placed on the feeder for scan. I've manually scanning documents for a long time I figured if someone can provide me little Prof assistance on this it would really help me speed up my scanning by doing this automatically. Here's a small video that I made that's attached here.

your profile is nothing. so do not take offense with my questions.

    are you a tech?

    do you have the SM?

what are the page counts on the machine and adf?

who does the maintenance on the unit?

    any error codes?

    what have you tried?

have you blown out the sensors with canned air?

Go into IO mode and check the sensors that sense if the ADF is up on down. I think there are two sensors for the up/down of the unit.

You will have to get a tech out to come test your original set and the platen cover open/close sensors for you

When a document is inserted into the ARDF you should hear a beep tone alerting you that the document was properly inserted. I am not hearing that in your video.

Did it just start doing this? Has power been cycled? If power has not been cycled,
    1. Turn power off
    2. Disconnect the ARDF
    3. Reconnect the ARDF
    4. Turn power back on.

If it then starts working, someone had disconnected and reconnected the ARDF while power was on.

When you slightly lift the feed cover you should see a sensor arm hanging down, item 22 in the attached. That and the associated sensor, Item 21, are what detect that you have inserted a document. If the arm is damaged or the sensor is dirty or damaged the document will not be detected,
