    Mpc5504 scanner

    Hi!

I bought mpc5504 last week. I notice that in the lower corner scanner up about 50mm, until the machines goes into sleep mode.

    Thanks in advance.

Most likely what you are observing is the lamp unit being positioned for the document feeder and it moves back to the home position when the machine enters sleep mode.

I have not noticed this before & because the machine can only turn on all the LED lamps not just a few as in your photo this is not normal.

Does the machine print/copy/scan ok without any issue no SC codes?

Have they brought back the old practice of only having the white reference patch only at the front edge of the carriage?

Yes,everything looks ok, when copying, scanning and also without SC code. The machine has also the latest firmware.

Next time I go to a 5504 I will check if this is normal but I don't think it is I work of these most days don't remember seeing just a small area of the scan lamp illuminating!

I got curious and went to check the service manual - It looks like some sort of original size detection!

Gotta check it when I'm near one of those!

    Thanks!

I've only ever seen the complete CCD light for size or original detection, not just 1 small section.

I'm not saying it surely is - just making a guess here...

I just can see how the machine can control individual portions of the CCD.
