I don't have better experience of using that one you are talking. But I have use Canon and Brother scanner in the past. Both of them served me well.

Let me correct you. In the original post I “can” see the partial illumination of the CDD.

However ever I “can not” see this when I visit an xx04 model.

I thought you meant you couldn't understand how the machine could partially activate the led head. My apologies.
