    mpc 5502 double imaging

I have replaced the k drum several times, the double imaging is in the k drum,, fuser is near new, and i know what that looks like.. lol
if i have the client print in color it does not do it EVER at all
it obvious it the k drum unit the double imaged text is the same diameter as the a drum.. and i replace it,, it goes away for a week or two then comes back, ive cleaned the charge roller, connections etc..
has some one had this problem? its the only one i have thats doing it...cant figure it out...any clues? thanks

If it doesn't do it in color, then it most likely is not a mechanical problem - I'd wager on some adjustment that applies only to K prints.

Try to back up the NVRAM, clear the engine settings and try it out for a while to see if it still happens before restoring the backup.

Try making the adjustments in the attached. It will slightly reduce toner concentration in the developer thereby putting slightly less toner on the drum and compensates by pulling more of the toner from the drum to the ITB. Service Program (SP) Settings.pdf

Are you using the correct PCU (Genuine Ricoh) & Genuine toner?

PCU offsetting is often caused by too much toner being applied to the drum to the point that the cleaning blade cannot keep up. Frequently it is caused by the developer being slightly over toned. When you swap a PCU or even a PCDU you don't do anything to change what ever is causing the over toning.

I had a customer one time called that they were getting red spots. When I got to their location they were trying to print brochure for their gun club. The front page had a picture of a hunter on a hillside wearing a bright red cap. The color of the cap was being offset four to six more time down an 11X17 sheet. Making the adjustments in the document I posted earlier cleared the problem.
