Scan to Gmail requires the "less secure apps" setting to work. That setting will go away in Feb 2021. I have reached out to Ricoh, but am curious what you other techs are planning or have implemented to continue working when Gmail takes away the "Less secure apps" setting. Thanks in advance. I appreciate all the combined knowledge of this community.
"less secure apps" is only needed if the MFP does not support SSL/TLS/StartTLS. There is still the option on using a local relay such as stunnel.
You can also setup an account with GoDaddy. Their secureserver.net SMTP still supports port 25. They also support port 80 in case have a problem with normal SMTP ports being blocked. AT&T used to block outgoing SMTP from a scan device to any server except their own. Port 80 cannot be blocked as it is the same port used for internet access.
The solution might involve the use of an App Password as seen in this video.

This is excellent information. I wish we had a sticky area on this forum, this answer will be needed and asked by many techs when less secure apps is taken away.
"App password" setting also works with scan to MS Office365 (outlook) e-mail when 2-factor authentication is enabled on the account MS Office365 account.

Good info. The video is for a Canon but setting up on a Ricoh is no big deal, the Gmail settings was the golden part... Good to know.
