P501 vs P502
Hi all,
We are about to get rid of about 15 kyocera printers at a customers and were looking to replace them with either the Ricoh P501 or P502 printers.
The 501 costs about £200 less to buy than the 502... but apparantly the running costs of the 501 are higher, including toner prices to buy etc
Yet when I look at the parts manuals the 501 and the 502 are exactly the same, same PCDU and fuser, literally the manual is 501/502.
Also weirdly, on the parts preventive maintenance even though the parts are the same they say on the 501 pcdu only lasts 40k but on the 502 it lasts for 70k... come on, no amount of firmware differences between the two would make it almost double it's life in another machine.
Then the last thing is on Ricoh purchase site, it says the 501 takes 'Print cartridge black 501' toner but the 502 takes 'Print cartridge black IM 430' toner... Would they not take the same? Unless the frame size is slightly different and it would not fit in correctly, as they both use the same pcdu it would fit in that the same and use the same developer...
If anyone could shed light on this it would be great, are they really just the same machine and can use the same toner? We could potentially save a few thousand pounds here.
Thanks
