Before I retired I had them all on my laptop that went everywhere I went.

I guess he prints out the PDF's instead of keeping them on his laptop.

I had an SC204 caused by a loose ground wire in the transfer section on an old BW Ricoh, took a long time to figure out that problem.

you won’t find this fix in service manual . You would read everything and be lost. Have fun with that

This code can also be caused by something really sneaky. At the bottom of the paper transfer unit there's a bar with two wedges on the end that stop the unit moving too far forward, allowing you to close the side door without having to push the unit back manually. Either side of this bar there is a spring. Check to see they haven't been dislodged.

Just this last year I put my service docs onto a flash drive that I always have with me. I rarely have to use my laptop these days (Although I do need it for onsite firmware SD card prep).

Also, the green earth wire on the PTR assembly can break causing SC204.

    Re: Mpc 5501 sc204

Check the Green Ground wire that runs from the right-hand door to the frame of the machine. We have had a ton of calls for that wire breaking and causing mirror motor codes.

Are you using the correct Transfer roller?

There is a white ground wire that attaches to the metal frame part of the Transfer case and the other side is screwed down by the sensor in the case, is this wire missing or not screwed down?

It’s fixed after removing the transfer ptr assembly and reattaching
