MPC3503 FUSER SLEEVE assembly with lamp into a MC4503

    HI
I tried to look up the lamp wattage on the mpc4503 and mpc3503 and did not find it.
I have a mpc4503 machine that chewed up all the gears and the sleeve has small nicks.
    Meter is 300k.
I swapped one from a shop mpc4503 and need to rebuild it.
Dont have a mpc4503 fuser leeve with lamp assembly.
I have a mpc3503 fuser sleeve assembly with the lamp etc etc.
I assume the c3503 lamp is different than the mpc4503?
this is 120 volt usa use.
Can i just swap out the lamps?

They have different part numbers but you can use any sleeve assy from mpc2003 up to 6003

Dunno that models but in some service manuals lamp wattage is actually mentioned. Seems to recall some old machines I worked on have lamps wattage labeled on them.

    Are you sure about this?
I think you get a SC code if you try to use C2003 in the faster models, and vice versa.

Going to have to attempt this for myself later on, when I get back to the shop.

In The UK (240v) the same sleeve ass'y inc lamps fits on all METIS even though the part numbers are different.

As long as it is for the same region as you are in. A 240 volt sleeve in a 110 or 120 volt machine will not reach operating temperature and code. A 110 or 120 volt sleeve in a 240 volt machine will have the lamps burn out in a few seconds.

I don't know if the C2003/C2503 sleeve will code but I still wouldn't use one unless absolutely necessary. The C2003/C2503 sleeve has a PM cycle of only 240K as opposed to 400K for the faster models.

The parts catalogs I have show one part number for all models except the C2003/C2503 in North America, 120 volt.

You should be able to swap the entire sleeve unit. The only time you want to attempt swapping lamps is if you have one sleeve unit with bad lamps but a good sleeve and another with good lamps and a torn sleeve. It is not fun.

I had to go take a MP C3503 sleeve out of an MP C4503 that someone put in by mistake. It cause intermittant fuser codes. The wattage is different.

+1. Every halogen lamp I ever handled has volt and and watts specifications printed right on the ceramic end. I would be very surprised if they were rated the same though. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
