Help wanted - only printing both l/h & r/h edge of photos on a ricoh MPC306

    Hi

Can anybody shed some light on my issue, due to the nature of the photos i cannot post the problem as I was in a nursery and all photos were taken on a iPad of the children.

    what did I do?

printouts were generated by right hand clicking on the picture and selecting = print

I printed off a picture I found on the net - that printed out ok
I printed off a photo ( 72dpi ) and the picture had a white band through the middle, If I selected 4 different pics 9 x 13. cm. (4) all four pics had the line, but the white line was not in a line if that make sense. was in a different position on each photo.

I created another driver with a different model ( mpc305) and same issue.

But only on one PC two other PCs printed ok.

I had to leave site due to time and I’m not back to work until Wednesday.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Microsoft recent updates as usual wrecked havoc.
Try uninstall those from elevated Command prompt:

    wusa /uninstall /kb:5000802

    wusa /uninstall /kb:5000808

A recent Windows 10 update is the most likely cause. KB5000802 on most systems
There are several threads in the KM forum regarding this.

If updating doesn't work, try installing PCL6 Universal Driver V4

I've got two calls for this exact issue today. I too, believe that the Microsoft Update is behind it somehow.

So you're printing JPG files from Microsoft Photo Viewer or Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer ... correct? And you're getting blank areas 3" to5" wide in the feed direction, through your photo, yes?

My suggestion is to install a non-Microsoft JPG viewer like Irfanview
    Download IrfanView

It has many more features than either of the Microsoft options, it's free, and IT WORKS.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

An out-of-band update has been released to resolve the issue.

    March 18, 2021—KB5001649 (OS Builds 19041.870 and 19042.870) Out-of-band

I believe irfanview is not really free (unless it has changed since the last time I checked). But Faststone viewer is indeed free (or so I think...)

It is a Freeware for non-commercial use. I have used for years. Here is their web page. IrfanView - Official Homepage - One of the Most Popular Viewers Worldwide

For best use also download all their plugins to include Ghostscript. IrfanView PlugIns

Yes, for non-comercial use, which rules out 99% of my customer base. Great software nevertheless.
