Mp c5503 exit jam & fuser pressure cycles

    Howdy folks

Got a 5503 that went sc554. Reset the code and it was jamming on exit. Bit of a z fold starting. Looks like exit rollers not taking paper away from fuser fast enough.
After clearing the jam it starts cycling the fuser pressure 4-5 times. You hear it thunk alot.

Checked the exit motor in forward and reverse. Forward was fine. Reverse cycled the pressure as it should. Checked pressure sensor and swapped it. Tests fine in sp mode.
Turned fuser pressure off in 1153 (I think that's the sp), installed fuser with pressure on and machine passed paper but it was starting to fold. Then it cycled the fuser pressure a few times.

Figured drive pack one ways are buggered. Ordered the exit pack. Put in a brand new fuser. No dice.

    Anybody have any other suggestions?

Did you rebuild fuser when got the sc554 error. When you say exit pack do you mean the exit assy

Exit drive pack with the gears and motor.

I did put a brand new fuser in. The SC 554 is a result of no fuser pressure turning the heat film causing it to over heat.

No mention of that in my copy of the service manual.

    Causes:
    1. Triac defective (short-circuit),
    2. Engine controller defective,
    3. Heating edge thermopile defective,
    4. Fusing control software: out of control

    Corrective action for -001
    • If the triac is defective, replace the AC power supply board
    • If necessary, replace the BCU or heating edge thermopile

    Corrective action for -002
    • Attach the new fusing unit, then run SP-5-810-002
    • If necessary, replace the BCU or Fusing edge NC sensor

My high heat codes are happening because the pressure roller is not pushing against the fusing film half the time. The film is not turning constantly so it's getting too hot in 1 spot and causing the high heat codes.

Is the sensor in the machine fallen out of place or dirty with monitors the pressure

Sensor has been tested in sp mode. Also swapped it. It should be throwing a sc 569 if it's not detecting the pressure. We are going to try a bicu first then the in / out board.

Re: Mp c5503 exit jam & fuser pressure cycles

We had a few faulty fuser drive assys failing - it's basicly just some one-way pulley and a torque limiter you can order to fix them.
Errors usally are weird SCs and Fuser Jams. The torque / one way parts are there to keep the fuser pressure adjustemt/release in place.

I checked the serice hiostory of the last case and we ordered D149-1397 + D0BQ-1375 for A MPC3003 drive so better take a look at the parts manual 5503 just in case.

First thing I ordered was that drive pack for the fuser and exit. No change. Removed exit unit. Nothing wrong there.
Replaced bicu. Next is in out board.

Did you also update the firmware?
