MPC 5504 Ex Service Lock and Changed Passwords

Hi all
Im looking for some advice/help
i have a few ex lease MPC5504ex that have service lock enabled and have had both supervisor and admin passwords changed and iam unable to get the password from previous owners
i want to data dump the nv to see if i can edit the passwords and gain access to the machine
i have a machine that ive cleared passwords in sp mode so i can back up that nv to sd card and use that as my guide to what i need to edit

so advise
what is a good eprom reader and program to use to read then write back to the nv
i have a usb eprom reader that i have used in the past on older models
i use HxD to edit the file is that ok

Your best bet is to make a list of the serial numbers and contact Ricoh to find out who the original selling dealer was. If you have a friend who is an attorney, he or she can then send that dealer a letter requesting those passwords or that they send someone out to change them or at least login and clear Service Lockout. If they had been leased to the government then it will require someone from the government to clear the service lockout.

The NVRam on the C5504 is not just one chip. It is three, one on the BCU and two on the controller. So the first thing is to determine which one contains the supervisor password. The supervisor can change the admin password(s). Once you know that, you then need to find an adapter for 8 pin NVRam devices and software that works with it. Be ready to spend somewhere between $800.00 and $3,000.00. If somehow you are able to get the hardware and software needed you then need to determine where the supervisor password is stored. The best way for that requires that have at least one machine you can login to.

1. Create a set of data files from the three NVRam chips
2. Change the supervisor password and make another set of data files
3. From the command prompt use the command FC to compare the 2 files from each chip. Hopefully the only differences will be the changed password.

As for editing a file once you know what needs to be changed, any ASCII editor should work. Of course MicroBrain, I mean Microsoft decided nt to include the EDIT command in Windows 10.

I do not think you can if Service Lockout is set on.

Yes iam aware of factory mode but when service lock is enabled in admin you cannot access service mode
on models upto 03 range it is possible to force the machine into sd restore mode and initialize passwords
but it would seem that is not possible with the 04 range

Fit a new NVRam & hopefully you have the birth certificate to re-enter all the sp settings etc.

Yes that is an option luckily, they have the Birth Certificates , i would prefer to keep the machine with the correct readings as they are to be resold
do you think you would need to replace both NvRam on the controller and the 1 on the bicu
