Finding the location of "Flash Memory"

Hi,

I've been using many different Ricoh devices and never taken much notice of the storage locations of apps when installing them. The options seem to be SD1, SD2, Flash Memory, and Hard Drive. All are selfexplanitory except for Flash Memory. As we run our devices on a standardised configuration I noted that this isn't an external storage device. Is this located on the controller board? Does any one know what else it's used for?

there is flash memory on controller board and java software is stored on it.
