MPC307spf - Dead as a doorpost

Hi All

I have an MPC307spf that is as dead as a doorpost.

We replaced the AC/DC power supply as well as the AC detector board.

Pressing the power button has no effect whatsoever. No fans/motors activity and no LED activity on the boards.

Has anyone come across this before?

I would appreciate your feedback.

Get your meter out should be pretty easy to check main voltage etc.

Especially check the fuses on the boards you replaced maybe they blew as soon as you replaced the boards.

If it was caused by a piek current f.i. thunderstorm, it could very be that other boards are damaged too.
In fact, here in Belgium, damage after f.i. a thunderstorm we describe the machine as "totally unreliable" when making up a cutlery for insurance.
And selling a new machine is the (only) solution.

Especially check the fuses on the boards you replaced maybe they blew as soon as you replaced the boards.

Yes I did check low voltage and AC power supply fuses, as part of the fault finding, and all are good on both power supplies.

Would love to get insurance involved, but I need to find proof of electrical damage (which so far is not forthcoming) as there is no black burn marks or parts that are blown of the board.

If you suspect that may be the cause then check the fax area as the tel line may have been hit, I have seen this some years ago.

We always ask customer if there was a power failure recently.
The last case we had was a road construction.
The damage can go up to 6 months ago! Because the tinny components will have a tear which - due to temperature - will get bigger in time.
But... it is hard to prove that a power failure of 6 months ago was the cause.

I wouldn't try anything without a parts donator - in know that the pricing for PCBs is very expensive so even little damage with more than 1 baord means that you can write this unit off and get a new one. Plus you'll never know if there are hidden issues waiting to occure some day later.

None at all. no noise of fans/motors either.
