    Toner swap Ricoh Savin Lanier

Hi all. I have a ricoh sp c820dn. I just came across a deal on a lot of the lanier branded toner. Is there a way to reset a value in the settings to get my ricoh to recognize the lanier toner bottle? Everything is the same except for the chip and how it identifies on the end of the toner bottle.

    Thanks

If the Lanier is the same model as the ricoh it should work without doing anything

Lanier version is LP 550C/LP 540C. Is your toner listing all of these models? If so, you're good.

OK cool. I'll give it a try. I have the ricoh and then I also have a Xante impressia which is the same machine as the ricoh just rebranded. I remember the ricoh toner would not recognize in the xante. Do you know if there a setting that will allow me to get the lanier toner be recognized by the xante also?

If the toners have already been in another machine that has already written to the chip you will get an error message but the toner will still work.

As Xante is not a Ricoh company it likely has a custom controller that isn't compatible with Ricoh Family Group supplies.

Look at the recipe number on the Xante boxes. If it is the same as the Ricoh/Savin/Lanier the the actual toner is the same. There are places online that sell new chips. Most likely will have to buy in bulk, i.e. multiples of 50 or 100.

Sometimes Ricoh printers don't even like the chips on the MFP cartridges.

Thanks, that'll work for me I think. I can only seem to find the chips in single sets. Can you recommend a site that sells bulk?

are you looking for xante chips or ricoh?
I have only seen one of those but never took it apart.
You can always pop the end cap off of the xante empty bottles and pop them on the ricoh bottle.
You can ignore the low toner warning or turn off that setting .
