    c307 scan to folder

    Hoi,
Perhaps (very) stupid questions, but i need to know the theory well to troubleshoot a problem.
    1. Is it necessary for a good working scanning to folder that the device is installed as a printer?
    2. how important is a domain name in the setup as a local printer AND for scanning to email (or to folder)?
    3. same question for a network installation...
    4. does the ssl needs to be active always?
    5. this ssl is only necessary with scan to email or also with scan to folder?
    6. port number with SSL = 465 with TLS = 857 without SSL = 25
    7. But scan to email here is - almost always - 25, so no SSL necessary?
    8. The smtp verification is only used with a mailserver?
Oh so very much thank you in advance for your answer!!!

Is a firewall (device) capable to block a scan to folder?

Sometimes windows itself blocks scan to folder, disabling the smb 1.0 protocol... If you setup scan to mail with Gmail, check your accou t settings and allow "less secure devices" and answer the "it was me" question in the mail with "yes" (if two factor authentication is enabled"

    NO

    For printing - NO.
For scanning if you are on a network that has a Domain Controller - YES. And the primary DNS need to be the local DNS.
