If toner end detection has been disabled (SP 3xxx) it will show full toners all the time.
NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
I've just come back from the customer, the toner bottle is almost empty but on the display the toner icon is full (model is RICOH MP 4054).
Checking the SPs, 3100-01 is set to 0, every other SP is on it default value.
SP 3101-001 value is 2 (full).
I have a doubt, does these models ever show a decreasing toner level on-display or just drop from 100% to 10% every time?
The toner tubes are not chipped. Some of that is the issue. If the toner is not shaken before inserted, it may cake together and not flow into the dev unit. Eventually the dev unit will ask for toner and not get it x number of times. At this point toner jumps from nearly full to empty. The customer starts to replace toner and notices the tube is still 3/4 full, shakes it and puts it back in. Because there is no chip the machines registers this as a full tube again. Where the trouble comes in is when there is say 10-20% left in the tube, the customer shakes the tube and reinserts, the machine considers it full again. The person ordering supplies sees a full tube and a short time later it shows empty and they don't have a reserve.
I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........
Especially when it comes to sex
This was never answered, could be possible that firmware will help, I found this.
Engine ver. 1.05:05 The remaining toner amount displayed before printing starts is 91%~100% regardless ofthe actual remaining amount, when turning the power OFF/ON or when returning from theenergy saving mode.
