I found the solution, USER TOOLS >>SYSTEM SETTINGS >>FUNCTION PRIORITY>>HOME.
Function priority wasn't set to home.

Sandmanmac gave you the solution 3 weeks ago when he said this,

This....and also there's no indication that you've done as Tim suggested, and make sure that there is a default boot option selected in the screen features like "Home" or "Copier", for example.
I've come across several machines in the past that have somehow had the preferred boot function de-selected and the result was like yours - maybe 5 - 6 minutes to arrive at the home / copy screen

Yup, and he immediately responded that he tried that without success, and now he's posting as if he's some sort of hero that discovered the solution all by himself, even after starting a brand new thread for the EXACT same thing earlier today!

Starting up the extended feature ricoh mpc3003

And all of that without a single word of appreciation for the dozens of suggestions along the way as far as I can see

I probably didn't read through because so many suggestions where coming in. Pardon me if I didn't appreciate anyone who had variously contributed to the success, am indeed grateful for all. Thank you
