    IM C2500 not recognising toner after firmware update

    Hi all
    Has anybody come across the problem with a IM C2500 saying = print Cartridge Setting Error = after a remote firmware update?

    Was there for a fusing unit ghosting problem and after the fix started off the remote firmware update (left the office as they wanted to close it) left the machine to do it magic!! - after the update the error started !

    was working fine before.

    going back tomorrow with another toner (Ricoh toner)

    Any ideas in advance of my return?

    Think it's just by chance that toner not set message came up after doing firmware because I've been running into this issue way too much recently. Check the chip contacts on the toner bottles. Chances are you'll see one of them is contaminated. Don't know how many I've had to literally scrape clean with a small flat the past year or so

    funny you should ask as the colors are not, only the K toner is genuine.

    If it was the other way ( not seeing the non ricoh toners ) then I would be thinking about richo may of done something to the FW to detect non ricoh toners.

    "print Cartridge Setting Error" means no K toner? Strange.
    Of topic
    Are you sure using compatible toners CMY is OK long term wise? Maybe ghosting problems aren't coincedense.

    My thought pattern was that sometimes a firmware update will adj a Fusing issue. (goes to show - poxy firmware updates - if its not broken dont fix it! )


    After removing lots of paper dust from ITB due to cheep paper and removing some baked toner from the guide all was ok, 50 copies and no issues.
    small office and and under 10K on use.

    will see today when I revisit.

    Quick update while im on site

    When all the color toners are removed it recognises the K toner , all color tones are now Ricoh.

    I have checked the contacts from above via removing the plastics that cover it, all clean and no visible breaks.

    the ricoh update tool says the firmware is up to date, now going to see if there is a roll back.

    Does not look like a roll back is possible and all is up to date.

    Just been advised from Ricoh Tech to backup nvram - then clear nvram to see if toners are recognised. before I do that all the toners are going back to the office to see if they work in our machine first.

    Have you checked that the firmware version is the latest one published in octopus? The latest version of the package is v4.60.1You can also try to re-install the same version with the sd card.
