    Scan to Folder on Mac

I have no problem setting up the 04 series to scan to folder on Mac, but can't get a MP 401 or even the Metis C1 series to scan to folder on mac.

Firmware is updated, SMB v2 and v3 are active, any ideas as to why these wont scan? Having to settle for scan to email for now

Try using the IP address instead of the host name. Ive had tons of issues scanning to OSX using smb, and it almost always ends up being hostname related. I always just end up using webdav straightforward and easy to configure. Out of curiosity could you advise how you get your KM boxes to scan to OSX using smb?

You're the bomb man...a quick telnet in and changing my client auth level from 0 to 1 solved my issue.

Great resource. The only depressing thing is it confirms just how utterly terrible Apple's implementation of SMB is, though their use of other features (Bonjour/mDNS) are partially to blame for the inability to use a hostname. The lack of signing support (which was implemented way back in Server 2003 R2/XP Service Pack 2) are inexcusable.

Perhaps Apple needs to take a page from the Samba group, which works with Microsoft's storage group to make sure that their implementation of the protocol is as feature complete as possible.

Re: Scan to Folder on Mac

And read about something (I think it was in this same forum), that Apple is removing from its systems the services related to SMB (Samba) and FTP.

As I recall, they claimed that it was unsafe and that MFP devices, having scanning compatible with Cloud service and Email, their system did not have to provide those services.

I wouldn't be surprised if we started having calls, from MacOS that received an "update", and the scanner stopped working. Although of course, in this case, the fault as usual will be the MFP ...
