SC120-00 Solution

Hi all,

I attended a call last week for an MPC2004 giving intermittent SC120-00 (HP Error). After checking motors and sensors in engineers mode, checking drive belts, lubricating rails etc. I removed the scanner drive motor.

Although it runs correctly in engineers mode about a quarter of the adhesive on the black rubber ring on the motor had come off, causing it to flex a tiny amount. When the scanner unit is moving from right to left at the home position the load must of been just a little to much on occasion which gave the SC120-00 code.

I'm still pretty new to Ricohs but from what I can tell the IMCs use the same drive mechanism so this may be useful for someone in the future.

I've never uploaded an image before, hope this works. I didn't take a photo on site but attached is an image of another motor. I believe it's a rubber for shock absorbing? Its on every motor.

I don't remember that ever happening to me, maybe a factory defect, anyway thanks for the tip ...

They break on the sp5210 all the time

This same failure has happened to me only once with a Brother desktop scanner motor. It must be a factory fault.
