maybe use chrome printer, try to print a normal pdf from acrobat with ricoh pcl driver , and see what happens, anyway i would update the firmware .... then there was one more thing about it, but it doesn't come to mind

Very common with some web pages. Non printable characters such as moving fonts. Often a web page that is not secure. Tell them to preview the page and print from the preview screen. This flattens the document and removes all non printable characters. Also check to see if they are current as far as firmware.

I would say download the document and print from your computer not from the website . Also make sure your drivers are up-to-date

Almost assuredly it's the usual Printing via the WSD port rather than TCP/iP.
I doubt that it matters whether or not it's a PDF from the Web or from their Own HDD

Microsoft Edge, the unspeakable pile of garbage it is, is a cracking cause of stupid PDF printing issues.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

As you know, the engineers of the companies blame the machines, knowing that they are not..

to a client with a similar case, who had acrobat for free, because I installed PDF XCHANGE just to verify that the problem was not my little machine.
    Holy remedy

the tips of the seniors are great and you do well to make them, firmware, driver etc

    Cheers
