Possible to enable bridge unit without finisher installed?

    Good afternoon all.

Anyone knows of any way of enabling the bridge unit on a MP4002 (or similar) without having a finisher installed?

Our customer wants his own equipment to grab the paper at the exit of the machine to do its thing.

    Thank you!

I don't think so. Just direct all output to the finisher tray without the tray physically in place, maybe he can grab it from there.

RBC I was their first plain paper copier, way before digital. 250 sheet paper tray, paper masters, waffle iron radiant fusing, lead block fuse over heat protection, maximum of 10 copies per press of the print button. I think it was only 10 copies per minute but might have been slower.

A number of dealers and other companies came out with add on options. I designed a 1000 sheet second tray option and later a coin-op attachment. A dealer in Fresno developed an end mounted rolled paper feeder. GradCo and a couple of others came out with sorters that had snorkels that caught the paper as it came out of the copier.

I truly have no idea - the question was presented to me by a colleague. I don't even know if this is a current setup or a possible future one...

Thanks for the input, though. I'll let you know if anything comes out of this.

Unless you have a way of getting it to talk to the machine through the finisher connection, no. The bridge unit is a passive device: it passes output from the machine to the finisher.

Interesting question but I'm afraid you'll need another machine with larger body for this that comes with a left exit by default like IM7000. Of course it wouldn't hurt to contact the product support but since the bridge unit has no exit sensor I doubt this will be possible - I guess the only way
to archieve this is you going berserk on the heavy McGyver modding path..
