Automatic Rico Printer Firmware Update (Tested on Rico MP C2051)

    Hi,
For years I was searching for firmware update files for my Ricoh MP C2051 because with the old firmware it has got no SMB V2 support and enabling SMB V1 on your Win10/11 Computer is not a good idea.
As a workaround I did use ftp.

But today I found an automatic update Tool for Ricoh IM C300 and it did also work pretty on my old MP C2051

My Printer now has got SMB V2 support and I can save files directly on my Windows shares.

    I am happy :-)

You'll see plenty of conversations on the Firmware Update Tool, positive, negative, and somewhere towards underwhelming. The tool still needs a lot of work, especially if an update fails, but it's certainly a positive step to make firmware more available for independents and even IT staff.

You got super lucky. Ricoh very recently updated their FUT. The previous version tended to crater older models like the C2051.

Oh, by the way, I see you have already collected one RED card. Keep digging up dead and buried threads and you are going to receive a lot more. Grave robbers are not appreciated.

I agree, not that I have never done it myself, but half of the time the update was blocked already with the 02 series.

I only tested it once with an old MPC3001 (in our shop) - no issues. On the other hand and like stated by others this tool can cause problems, especially on certain models like MPC306 and there's not a chance to use this tool for reviving a non-booting machine due to a incomplete/faulty update. So if things goes wrong you'll have to have the knowledge and resources for fixing this kind of problem.
