Print directly to Ricoh C5200s and skip Fiery

Our organization is leasing the Ricoh C5200s plus the Fiery E-24B server.

Most of our users' computers are MacOS and we used to be able to print directly (from MacOS Catalina or Big Sur) to the copier without going through the Fiery. But after the computers got upgraded to MacOS Monterey, we can't do that any more. When we add the copier now, we have to use the Ricoh utility (specific driver for E-24B) to add the copier to the printer list.

    For Example,
    Copier IP: 10.10.1.101
    Fiery Server IP: 10.10.1.102
When adding this copier to the printer list from MacOS, we used to be able to add by Copier's IP and print directly to it without Fiery. But now it does not work any more when we are at MacOS Monterey. We have to add the copier by installing the copier's (E-24B) driver and then it will scan the local network for Fiery's IP to add it to the printer list.

I asked our local Ricoh support and they said we can only do one way or the other and we can Not do simultaneous printing. The C5200s does not support that but only C5300 does.

I wonder if you guys heard of that and have any work around. Thanks!

Your local support team is correct.

It’s one or the other. The preference is set in the machine’s service program (SP) mode, and “both” is not an option.

Prior to the Pro C5300 and probably the equivalent B/W production model, printing through only one controller could be enabled, the Fiery or the GW Controller. There is however a setting in Scanner SP where you can change scan to folder to using the GW controller while still printing through the Fiery. Of course if you do not want to use the Fiery at all you can turn it off in System SP. BTW you have the use the standard Ethernet port instead of the gigabit port the fiery connects to, different IP address as well.

    Quite true.

We’ve been setting up Fiery equipped machines to scan with the onboard scan feature for some years, because Fiery scanning pretty much sucks in a multitude of ways.

Printing, however, is a one or the other proposition.
