Possible to change factory sp mode on mpc2004ex?

Just picked up off lease machine from my wholesaler and regular sp mode has been changed by the previous service company.
I also tried to enter factory sp mode (not that it would help) by I also could not access that either.

Is it possible that service mode lock is on, would there be some message that comes up for that?

Not that I am aware of though it might be something Ricoh has added in the last 5 years. I have heard that some techs have changed the SP sequence to the old 3 digit sequence entered twice. [key] [xyzxyz] [another key]

Yes, thank you, that was the first thing I tried when I saw the new code would not work.
I have encountered a few of these lease returns that were changed to what you suggested.

I haven’t heard of the code for factory mode being changed so I was surprised when I couldn’t access that.

Service mode lock would block it as well. Have you tried logging in to User Tools as supervisor. If you are able to you can then change the admin credentials. That is the only thing supervisor can do.

Service mode lock is only visible in UT when logged in as an admin when authentication is enable, and also to the best of my knowledge, it also only locks out SP mode when administrator authentication is enabled.
In other words you can turn on Service mode lock, but if administrator Authentication is not enabled it shouldn't have any effect.
And Yes, when enabled it will also block Factory SP mode, and I don't know of any way that Factory Sp login mode can be changed

    Good Luck.

    Thanks
So it sounds as if it is possible that just service mode lock is on.
I will check tomorrow if I can see that in User Tools.

Hopefully you have the Admin password, or at least the supervisor credentials haven't been changed, so that you can at least login and change the admin password, otherwise you may be up a creek

There are two possible ways to get to SP Mode:

    1. Remove small cover on left side of operation panel ( there are three buttons). Hold the button closest to the front while simultaneously pressing the "Check Status" button on the lower left of the touch screen panel. Hold both until the number keyboard is displayed. Then enter code: 806182.

    2. Go to copy mode, open front cover, and press the reset button. Then enter code 806182 and hold the clear key.

Don't know if you tried either one of these, or if you were able to get to the SP mode another way, but hope this helps.

Is HDD missing/faulty sometimes this can prevent you accessing service mode
select copy see if there's an error code this can prevent access (not always displayed in status)
as far as i am aware Factory mode cannot be changed

I was able to login and the admin password was not changed.
But Service Lock was definitely not on.

So if in fact the code for Factory Service mode can’t be changed, I believe this has some type of issue not allowing either service mode to be accessed.

Probably need to try a firmware update next.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions.
