MP 301 shows right cover open

The right side cover shows open intermittently, even though closed and latched.
The top left corner of the cover appears to be slightly bowed, and applying the slightest pressure to it clears the message.
Anyone have an adjustment or fix for these short of replacing the whole right cover?

I've had a couple of these machines with this condition...the most recent was just before Christmas.
My solution was just to roll up a small piece of electrical tape, and then tape that piece to the end of the post on the cover that hits the switch....basically making the post 1mm or so longer.
Done it couple of times. Seems to hold up pretty well.

If it uses one of those mini push button switches, I would replace it, especially in a high dust environment.

It's a lever type mechanism that may lead to a micro switch, but it appears to be a real S.O.B. to get to, so I've never bothered

My parts catalog show a push button with a number of levers that all have to work together in order to activate the switch. Does look like a total bitch to get at.

It's not the switch. Look at the right door latch, it's mount is probably broken, very common. The mount is molded into the door, to fix it properly the door needs to be replaced.

Now that you mention it, I remember that happening on the old MP161 series.
It would make sense that it would be a similar design.

As the door is not fully closing this will be you issue. The plastic latch & mount wear down so the door doesn't close flush & make contact with the door switch.

If you find the right door looks like it's slightly open and when you hold/apply pressure and hold it flush with the body that machine works then it's most likely that the plastic clips which are molded from the same piece of plastic as the door are broken.

    What I normally do :

    1) Replace the door and charge the customer for it. That part has gone due to the age of the machine. Which is about 8 years old.
    2) on the door look for the point at which the release handle hinges with the right cover. You'll notice plastic clips. Next to were those clips are make to small holes. Run a cable tie through 1 hole around the hinge point and through the other hole and fasten the cable tie. This will work well and you can tell the customer he needs to upgrade the machine.

    All the best friend

    Sometimes

Just bending the Micro Switch lever out with a spring hook can make the contact with the door more possitive and may stop the issue.
