    email scanning issue MP C6004

I have several of these in the field, only one comes up with this intermittently
Insufficient memory in the destination hard disk. To check the current status, press [Scanned File Status].
Is this the destination email? server? surely the HDD in the machine has enough space,,
its not being used as a doc server, or a HDD for storage
    thanks

This is a problem on the SMTP server, either the server or just the outgoing account is running out of space. If the server is not yours hand this off to their IT department.

Check if they are trying to scan something that results in a file that is larger than 25MB. That is the size limit for most current SMTP servers. In the early days of email when most access to the internet was dial up, they had a limit of 2MB.

    100% agree!

Just as the message indicates: "Destination hard disk" (not the machine's)

Seen this myself on a few occasions

Make sure the scan is defaulted to black and white, color scans take a lot of space. You can also lower the default scan resolution a little.

Have the customer’s IT check that the mailbox of the account used to send isn’t full.

While it’s not likely that the inbox is full, it could be that the “sent items” folder is.

I’ve had this happen a few times.

This can often happen when the account used is only used as a sending account and is never checked by anyone. It really should be checked daily in case there are bounce back messages or if anyone has attempted to reply to the sender.

I had one account with the sent items being full, where they have 65 machines all scanning using Streamline, and a few machines were using the on-board scanning, as well.

They all used the same service account to send.

After 4 years of not being checked, they had to delete over 200 GB from that account’s mailbox.

I think I'm going to have to check the email we use for automatic notifications. oops!!! xD
