Ricoh MPC3004, weird noise color print not good

    Hi,

Customer called for bad imaged color prints. (see picture)
Checked the Dv units, Cyan and Magenta, seems allright.
When I enter for a "forced toner supple" in SP modus it gives a noise, high sound, loud.
    Never had a problem like this on a C3004 . .

    tonerhoppers not good?
making a black copy, its allright
making a color copy, the noise again. .

    someone a clue here

    Thanks in adcanceIMG_6607.jpg

I would start by removing & checking the transfer unit.

What sort of noise does it make ?

Its a loud noise, not coming from gears, more a motor

Check color PCU's... I dont think that the problem is the toner hopper... I had some issues with Mpc2004 and hoppers, no noise, at some point the machine asks for toner, even when its full.

Try pulling each color drum out a little bit to disengage the drum drive, does one of them pulled out make the noise stop? The developer drive gears on the back of the PCDU tend to strip.

My guess is DVtank got problem. Usually white gear near where toner goes into Dvtank is slightly loose. Unfortunately, there not other solution than change Dvtank.

If you want to remove the PCDUs from the equation you can screw all the way down to the units, put something(A piece of paper) to keep the front cover door from signaling that it is open.
Then go to output check in SP Mode and turn on the drum unit rotation. One for black and one for all colors if I recall correctly.
If you hear the noise then one by one pull out the PCDUs as it is rotating until it stops. Or doesn't, in which case you know it isn't the PCDUs themselves at least.
You don't have to pull them out very far to disconnected them from the drive motor.

I now remembered an IMC a few months ago where the color drums made noise because they were rarely used, try removing the PCDUs, put a little yellow toner on the surface of the drum's with a brush, and rotate the drum cylinder a little with your fingers sometimes of times, back and forth, there is also a bulletin that suggests varying some sp regarding the timing of the waxing bar, for quality issue try to clean the 4 laser glass e run calibration....obviously the result depending for remaining pcdu's life
