    IM C6000 scan issue

Documents that are scanned have a faded horizontal stripe in the middle of the page about an inch wide. Copies also but more obvious on scans. Prints are fine. I imagine it is a problem with the scanner or optical reading unit...I am wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem.

By horizontal do you mean in the main scan direction or the sub scan direction. And by faded do you mean slightly lighter image or a very light background stripe of some color? One other thing, does it occur off the platen glass or the document feeder?

Does it make any difference when scanning from the glass or from the feeder?

Try scanning at different resolutions and see if the problem shifts.

If it does, you may have a memory issue.

On at least most if not all models, you can remove the RAM, clean the pins, and snap them back in.

That was all it took in my case.

    Good luck!

I have attached example. Scanned off of the glass. Change in resolution does not help.

Clean the optics. I have no experience on production models.

What have you done so far? Clean the optics and clean the laser slit glass. If still a problem, copy single color to narrow down problem.

Looks to me like you have a bright spot on the scanner LED lamp assembly. Auto Color Calibration, copier portion, might be able to correct it.
For the best image quality, this is done during installation and should be done periodically by the customer. It is accessed with the "Settings" as follows.
Settings -> Machine Features Settings -> Maintenance -> Auto Color Calibration

At one time Ricoh recommended doing this after every firmware update with the Metis 1, MP Cxx03 series.

    Hi,
we have had few calls on these IM Cxxxx series with similar scanning issue, resolved by replacing BCU/BICU (D0BQ5114)

I agree, start cleaning the optics and CCD element (carefully). Unfortunately the integrated scanner carriage assy is not as idiot proof to handle compared to the old style scanner design. If the machine is pretty new you can also try using compressed air first.
