    Ricoh MPC2050 SC400

Every so often I get an SC400 on an Ricoh MPC2050.
What always strikes me is that the sensors of the ID board and the plate above the board are always very dirty with toner. Does anyone know what is causing the toner contamination.
I make everything clean but sometimes it comes back fairly quickly and then generates another error SC400. Also checked the transfer cleaning . . .

    Thanks in advance

You have to clean them with a wet cloth. A dry cloth generates static electricity which will attract toner to the sensor.

It seems to be that ID sensor needs to be clean well, and most probably we experience Toner spilt upon it. I had been facing this problem to most of our customers using MPC2050.
I got a solution - at every PM visit i do vaccum for all the PCUs and clean ID Sensors (especially removing black cover with two screws). ID sensors of OPC belt.

The Breakdowns are no more now for SC400.

Hi also check the cleaning unit sometimes if the cleaning unit is old it also doesnt clean the belt right causeing extra toner to fall on to metal plate above id sensors

    Cool Re: Ricoh MPC2050 SC400

    1. check the harness of the ID sensor
    2. Clean or replace the ID sensor
note: after remplacing the ID sensor, input the ID sensor correction coefficient with sp3362013 and 016
    3. check the spring at the PTR unit contact lever
    4. remplace the BCU unit

We have several of these machines in dusty environments. I have found that cleaning the sensors using a damp rag with Brillanize or any glass polish/wax on it helps the dust not stick to the sensors.

I'm not sure if this helps, I'm still trying myself, but this is what I do:

Besides cleaning both the sensors and the metal bar under the transfer belt (the one with the holes the sensors peek through), I set the following SPs:

    SP3324-005 from 4.5 to 5.0
    SP3324-006 from 3.5 to 3.0

This, supposedly, widens the threshold for the ID sensors readings, making the machine more tolerant to dirty sensors. But since I'm not 100% sure of this, if someone knows what these SPs are for, please chime in. In the meantime, if you guys wish to test this and confirm - or dismiss - this to me, it would be great.
